At the staging area at the Radcliffe Walmart, Paul and I were the first to arrive and on behalf of the Kentucky Patriot Guard, I accepted his donation of the original of “Freedom Pays Respect”. We truly appreciate this and will always stay true to his appreciation of what we do.
Slowly people started joining us. We ended up with a small crowd and some just stopped by to find out what we were doing and then to say thanks. We want to thank the gentleman that stopped and led us in prayer. I don’t remember his name but we were grateful. We also had a couple of new people and we welcome them. After a very short meeting, we all moved up to the road. We were able to drive our vehicles and motorcycles up to the parking lots so it was great seeing all the flags on them also. |

The guy in the green shirt is an active duty gentleman that parked his truck and made it all the way down the line to personally thank each of us. This was one of those moments that makes all the hard work, worth it ALL!! |

Yes, it was a very hot day but the breeze was very nice!! Don was right....every time I started thinking that I just couldn't stand another minute...they would all start honking again.
There was also a "special moment" for me yesterday, one that I will never ever forget. While standing there in the heat, a car passed by very slowly because of the red light; and this little girl, who looked to be about 8 years old, saluted me. Talk about cold chills.....now here they come again!! That image will remain in my mind for a very long time!!! That one little moment...made it ALL worth while!!!
For all of you who haven't made it to a Flag Rally yet; you need to. The funerals that we attend sometimes seem to get me down, but the Flag Rallies and the Hillbilly Movers & Barnyard Carpenters always get me right back up!!
That little girl wasn't the only one that saluted that day. There were many!! Several troops in BDUs and Class As also saluted. There was also this one little old man that came by and saluted, did the thumbs up and just waved his arm every which way, like he was just so excited to see us there. Tammy and I both got tickled over him. These troops really do appreciate what we are doing!! So next time, I encourage you ALL to attend!! The funerals are very important but Missions like these are just as important for us to "Show them we care". |
